Balikpapan – ITK recently became the center of international discussion in the world of materials engineering and metallurgy during the prestigious event "BKPMM – SENAMM from various parts of the world to discuss advanced advances and continuous innovation in the fields of materials and metallurgy. With the big theme "Acceleration of Industrial Technology in the Field of Materials and Metallurgy Towards Sustainable Innovation," this event became a field for insightful discussions.

This event began with a lively opening by the Emcee, bringing the audience into an atmosphere full of intellectual stimulation and cultural appreciation. Traditional Dayak dances bring a rich local spirit to this modern conference, blending culture with science.

The official BKPMM-SENAMM distinguished speakers and participants, creating an energizing atmosphere for the days ahead.

The academic atmosphere was further enhanced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., Chancellor of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology. His remarks were in line with the event's theme, vocal about the important role industrial technology plays in driving sustainable innovation.

Representing the regional government, Mr. Armin, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the Employment Development Division of the East Kalimantan Province Education and Culture Service, delivered his opening remarks on behalf of the Governor. His words emphasized collaboration between academics and government in encouraging technological progress for the welfare of society.

The plenary session was the highlight of the event, presenting prominent speakers who enriched the seminar's insights. Professor Yasuaki Einaga from Keio University discussed "Electrochemical Application of Boron-doped Diamond Electrodes" in Plenary Session 1, opening insight into the use of diamond-based electrodes in various electrochemical processes.

Plenary Session 2 saw Dr. Hendra Hermawan, Ph.D., P.Eng., from Université Laval, discussed "Corrosion behavior of TiHfZrNbx high-entropy alloys in Hanks' solution." His insight into corrosion behavior provides a deeper understanding of the performance of high-entropy alloys in various environments.

In Plenary Session 3, Dr. Widi Astuti from the Research Center for Mining Technology at BRIN, Dr. Agung Purniawan from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), and Dr. Bambang Widiyanto, from Jenderal Achmad Yani University and Chair of BKPMM, livened up the atmosphere. Their collective expertise covers topics ranging from mining technology to metallurgical engineering, demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of materials science. The dynamic atmosphere was also felt in the interactive question and answer session, where participants discussed with the speakers, revealing new dimensions of understanding.

The seminar ended with the presentation of certificates and plaques to the distinguished speakers, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the event.

Seminar sessions which were held in parallel as detailed in nine categories took place in five different rooms, namely Composites and Polymers, Manufacturing Technology, Metals and Alloys, Metallurgical Extraction, Advanced Materials, Computational Materials, Material Analysis and Testing Methods, Material Processing and Characterization, and Material Failure and Prevention. These sessions provide a forum for participants to explore specific aspects in broader fields, namely materials engineering and metallurgy.

ITK Mechanical Engineering participated as a committee and participant in SENAMM XVI 2023 as the event host partner, ITK Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.
