The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) has once again demonstrated its real contribution to the development of applied technology through the TROLITK innovation, an electric material handling trolley developed by Kholiq Deliasgarin R., S.T., M.T. and Ir. Hadhimas Dwi H., S.T., M.Eng. This innovation is designed to improve efficiency and work safety in the process of moving goods in various industrial environments.

The need for safe and efficient goods-moving devices is increasing in line with the high number of workplace accidents in Indonesia. According to data from the Directorate General of Labor Supervision and Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in 2022, 28,821 cases of workplace accidents were recorded during 2019–2021, affecting more than 27,000 workers. One high-risk activity is moving goods using manual trolleys. This activity has the potential to cause injuries due to the heavy pushing load. Seeing this problem, the ITK research team initiated the TROLITK as an electric trolley solution that can reduce the physical burden on workers and improve workplace safety.

TROLITK is designed as a tool for moving goods that utilizes electricity as the main power source. With an electric motor as a driver, this trolley can move more stably and efficiently without requiring manual push from workers. The development of this trolley is carried out through the stages of problem identification, literature studies, preparation of design requirements, analysis of existing products, to detailed design using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). The process is then continued with prototype fabrication and functional testing to ensure its performance and safety according to industry standards.
